GenTent 10k Portable Generator Enclosure!

Hard rain requires a portable generator cover!A good portable generator enclosure or generator shed is not just a luxury. It’s a necessity for most of us who don’t have an existing shed or somewhere else to protect them from the elements.

Even the most well-made portable generator can fail or otherwise run poorly when left exposed in just one storm. It defeats the whole purpose of having backup power if that power source is not ready to fire up – especially when you most need it.

Moreover, running a portable generator in the rain is not only a PITA, but very dangerous as water can get into outlets and potentially lead to electrocution or at the very least a very painful shock.

While many will opt for a DIY enclosure, or simply stuff their generator into a small tool shed, this could be problematic. Chief among the concerns with this type of setup is airflow. A generator needs cool, fresh air for proper combustion, and must be able to vent hot exhaust fumes outdoors. A little homemade shed is therefore likely to heat up and dangerously raise engine running temperatures and/or compromise performance.

So what’s the solution?

We’ve canvassed the popular portable generator covers currently available and have identified the best in terms of ratings, price and overall value.

Let’s get on with it!

Best Portable Generator Enclosure – GenTent 10k Stormbracer Canopy

The GenTent 10k Stormbracer may be the most popular and highly rated portable generator enclosure going at the moment. There is a very good reason for it too.

The 10k Stormbracer looks and fits like a tent, but it’s as tough of a shed. It’s a one-size-fits-all enclosure that is rated to fit portable generators from 3,500 to 10,000 watts, which is more than big enough for the vast majority of consumers.

The Stormbracer easily repels harsh weather, and will protect your genset from 70 mile per hour wind, rain, sleet, ice and up to 18 inches of snow!

Moreover, because of its canopy design, it still allows beneficial airflow to the generator for necessary cooling. Electrical outlets are covered with specialized skirts to give you easy access while maintaining protection.

Just affix the claims, erect the simple frame, and cover it and you are ready for the most inclement weather!

As a huge added bonus, this particular portable generator enclosure is actually portable itself! Try moving a tool shed or some other generator shed. Consequently, for contractors and others who need to actually take their portable generator around with them, the GenTent 10k cannot be more convenient.

It’s also very reasonably priced at around $233 at the time of this writing. It appears that users agree; this model currently has a perfect 5 out of 5 average satisfaction rating on amazon.com. That is no small feat.

In conclusion, we too give the GenTent 10k Stormbracer 5-stars for performance, ease of installation, and value! We’d love to hear your thoughts on it. Please let us know what you think.

I have a Yamaha EF3000iSEB. I would like to purchase this cover but because of the generator design I’m not sure if it will work. There are no side bars to clamp attachments to. Please let me know if the cover is adaptable to this type of generator.
    Thank you.

    I have a Honda GX630 10000 watt generator.

Would your product accommodate that generator & protect it from the elements.

I’d like to leave the generator outside all the time, even when it’s not running.

I have photos of its current enclosure and will forward to you if you give me the appropriate email address.

    Thank you.
